Marking a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the Rajasthan assembly elections, the Congress has officially launched its manifesto, titled 'Jan Ghoshna Patra,' on Tuesday, November 21. The manifesto release ceremony, held at the state party office, witnessed the presence of prominent figures including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan in-charge Ashok Gehlot, State Party President Govind Singh Dotasra, Manifesto Committee Chairman CP Joshi, and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot.
Amidst fervent anticipation, the Congress manifesto carries a host of promises, with Gehlot pledging to institute a caste census and introduce a new panchayat-level recruitment scheme should the party reclaim power in Rajasthan.
The manifesto launch event at the PCC office saw Kharge, Gehlot, Dotasra, Joshi, and other key party leaders emphasizing the critical points outlined within the manifesto. Joshi specifically highlighted the commitment to determining the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in alignment with the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.
Scheduled for November 25, the Rajasthan elections will determine the fate of governance in the state, with the announcement of results slated for December 3.
Noteworthy among the seven prominent assurances listed in the manifesto are:
The Griha Lakshmi Yojana guaranteeing an annual honorarium of Rs.10,000 for women heading families.
Provision of LPG cylinders at subsidized rates for 1.05 crore families, priced at Rs.500.
Implementation of the Gowdhan guarantee, purchasing dung from cattle rearers at Rs.2 per kg.
Reinstatement of the old pension law for government employees.
Provision of laptops or tablets to students enrolled in government colleges.
Introduction of an insurance policy compensating up to Rs.15 lakh per family for losses due to natural calamities.
Doubling the coverage of the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme from 25 lakhs to 50 lakhs.
It is worth noting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also unveiled its manifesto in the run-up to the elections.
Speaking on the occasion of the manifesto release, Kharge emphasized the commitment to delivering on promises, stating, "We ensure the fulfillment of our commitments... If any party accomplishes 90 percent of the manifesto's pledges, it's a substantial achievement for Rajasthan and the Congress party."
The imminent assembly election in Rajasthan, scheduled for November 25, and subsequent vote counting on December 3, are anticipated to shape the political landscape in a state where, in 2013, the BJP clinched 163 seats in the legislative assembly elections, forming the government.
