Jaipur: In the Congress-ruled state, Rajasthan, the power crisis is getting more serious these days. 11 out of 23 thermal stations in the state have stopped generating electricity due to a non-supply of coal. In many districts, there is a power failure for several hours. Local people complain, but the authorities do not listen. In view of such conditions of the state, it is feared that there may be darkness in Rajasthan till Diwali.

According to media reports, out of 11 units of power plants that have been shut down due to non-supply of coal in Rajasthan, 4 are from Suratgarh Thermal Power Plant. At the same time, 3- Kota Thermal Power Plant and 3 are from Rajwest. Similarly, 1-1 unit of Chhabra Thermal Power Plant and Ramgarh has also been closed. With the closure of these 11 units, the production of 2400 MW capacity power has stopped in the state. Officials are telling that such a situation has arisen due to the shortfall in the supply of more than 30 thousand metric tonnes of coal daily. It is also being said that the negligence of the departmental officers behind the exhaustion of coal.

In media reports, citing the assessment report of Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, it has been said that during the peak hours of 2022-23, the demand for electricity can reach 17,757 MW, while the available capacity will be only 12,847. In such a situation, the people of Rajasthan may have to face the problem of long power cuts due to the stoppage of coal supply and power production. At present, to improve the situation, in the name of Diwali maintenance, 4 hours of power cuts are being done every day in several blocks. This situation is continuing in the state for the past several days. If you leave rural and urban areas, then the problem of power cuts remains in urban areas as well.

According to reports, 1 crore 47 people in the state are electricity consumers in the state. Everyone is facing the problem of electricity. Officials are telling that they have only 4 days of coal left, which is a violation of the guidelines of the Central Government. According to the instructions issued by the Centre, the state must have at least 26 days of stock.
