Rajasthan government announces strict lockdown from May 10

Rajasthan with the spread of Covid-19 infections decided to impose a strict statewide lockdown from May 10 to May 24. The lockdown decision is made by Rajasthan government which will begin at 5 am on May 10 and will end at 5 am on May 24. 

The lockdown imposition decision in the state was taken at a virtual meeting of the state cabinet. The prevailing pandemic situation needs to be curb because of which strict moves are to be taken under action to break the chain of transmission. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot suggested a nationwide lockdown is the only option left and if properly planned, a nationwide lockdown can help in breaking the chain of transmission of the viral infection. Ashok Gehlot also warned about the condition of nation. He said that already there is a shortage of oxygen, medicines and other equipment, and the country might soon face a shortage of medical staff as well.

The state on Thursday reported 161 coronavirus-related deaths and 17532 fresh cases. The death toll in the state has escalated to 5182 and the overall caseload has climbed to 702568. The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur recorded a maximum of 46 new fatalities, followed by Jodhpur where 27 patients succumbed in last 24 hours.
