JAIPUR:  In a bid to promote Khadi and Khadi workers, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the draft of "Khadi Workers Economic Incentive Scheme".

Along with this, he also gave his approval on Monday for an additional Rs 9 crore to provide financial aid to Khadi workers in the years 2022–2023. The state government said in a statement that this will provide more than 20,000 Khadi workers in the state with "appropriate" compensation and "will help enhance their living situations."

In accordance with the plan, the state's weavers and makers of Khadi thread will receive "extra" incentives per gundi or square metre on top of the prices set by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

In addition, employees working for Khadi organisations and societies will be eligible for a per-square-meter bonus on the goods they manufacture. The cost of producing software, hiring computer operators, and other tasks like data input will total Rs 36 lakh. The incentive will be sent straight into the beneficiary's bank account. "The Khadi and Village Industries Board will seek applications from the workers through Khadi Institutions/Committees."
