Rajasthan Police Seeks glock Pistol, Government Rules affect deal

Jaipur: Rajasthan Police has been embroiled in the purchase rules of 75 foreign Glok pistols. Pistols cost only Rs 43 lakh 40 thousand, but payments are to be made in foreign currency through letter of credit, while government rules do not provide for the same. The police headquarters has now sought permission from the state government to provide relief in accounting rules for the purchase of Glock pistols.

In view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the police want to include 75 Nos. semi-automatic pistol Glock in its arms fleet. The Police Headquarters has sent its demand to the Ministry of Home Affairs for a light Glock pistol in the infallible target and weight. The Home Ministry has written a letter to CRPF New Delhi seeking necessary action for the pistol. The CRPF has sent a letter to The Glock Asia Pacific Limited Company, Hong Kong, ordering the supply of Glock pistols.

The firm requested to pay 75 Nos. Glock Pistol in foreign currency through letter of credit and the firm wrote on January 28, 2019. That's where the Glock pistol purchase case got tangled up. In fact, the General Financial and Accounting Rules do not provide for payment on letter of credit basis when buying products from a foreign firm.
