Rajesh Kumar Singh assumes charge as new secretary of DPIIT

NEW DELHI: Rajesh Kumar Singh, a senior IAS officer, was appointed secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on Monday, a statement from the commerce and industry ministry read.

Anurag Jain, who was appointed secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, was succeeded by Singh.  Singh formerly served as the Department of animal husbandry and Dairying's secretary.

Singh is a Kerala-trained officer in the Indian Administrative Service from the 1989 batch. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation, and Farmers Welfare, and the Food Corporation of India's Chief Vigilance Officer are just a few of the major posts he has held in the Union Government.

On April 20, 2023, the Central government announced the reorganisation of a number of senior employees across ministries and departments.

As per the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Alka Upadhyaya, secretary, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, has been appointed as Secretary Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, while Vidyavanthi V who was Director General of Archaeological Survey of India was appointed officer of special duty, Ministry of Tourism.

Anjali Bhawra, a Punjab-cadre officer, was replaced as secretary of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment by Saurabh Garg, chief executive officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India, after she was named secretary of the National Commission for Minorities, Ministry of Minority Affairs.
