Rajnath reaches Jammu to take stock of Rajouri Anti-Terror Op

JAMMU: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached Hammu on Saturday to take stock of the ongoing operation against the terrorists in Jammu Kashsmir's Rajouri district.

After landing at the technical area of Jammu airport, Rajnath accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior Army officers flew to Rajouri in an Army helicopter. He will review the ongoing operation against the terrorists.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command Lieutenant  General Upendra Dwivedi has already reached the spot and will brief Defense minister Rajnath Singh about the operation against the terrorists.

Yesterday, five Army soldiers, including elite para commandos, were killed by the terrorists in the Kandi forest area of Rajouri. During the last two weeks, ten Army soldiers have been killed by terrorists in the Rajouri-Poonch area.

The Defense Minister will also review the overall security situation along the Line of Control as the various launch pads of the terrorist outfits lie close to the Line of Control on Pakistan's side.

Earlier,  massive search operation has been initiated in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district following the terrorist attack on an army truck on April 20. Five soldiers died and another was seriously injured in the terrorist attack on the military vehicle. 

Out of the 5 personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles Unit who were killed in the terror attack in Jammu Kashmir's Poonch district, 4 belonged to Punjab, said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today, April 21..
