New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has left for Russia on Wednesday to participate in a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This meeting is taking place when there is a deadlock on the border between India and China, the two main members of the organization. In this regard, the officials had said, "Apart from attending the SCO Defense Ministers meeting on September 4, Singh will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu and many other top military officials to increase bilateral military cooperation".

China's Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe and Pakistani Defense Minister Pervez Khatak are also expected to attend the SCO meeting. Singh himself has tweeted. He wrote "Heading to Moscow. During this visit, I shall be attending the combined meeting of Defence Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) & CIS members in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of victory in the World War II".

He said that during this time he will discuss shared interests with Shoigu. Singh said in his tweet, "India and Russia are a strategic partner. I am excited to take this partnership further during this journey." This is Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's second visit to Moscow after June.
