On Wednesday, the fifth day of proceedings in Monsoon have taken place where non-implementation of the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Re-organization Act, 2014 was discussed in Rajya Sabha.
The Telugu Desam Party leader Y. S. Chowdary started the discussion and claimed that the current government has violated many provisions of the sacred constitution which leads Andhra Pradesh in the dark. He also alleged that various rights of the state were also neglected by the central government.
Home Minister, Rajnath Singh stated that “I want to emphasize that we are fulfilling and will further fulfill all commitments made by former PM Manmohan Singh and our government,”
He also claimed that the “Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) wants every state’s development whether the state has BJP government in the rule or not because we know that if a single state will be left behind in terms of development than the country can’t witness further growth,”
Further, Singh stated that the reigning government is completing all provisions that were promised under Andhra Pradesh Re-organization Act, 2014 and not only the listed promises but benefits beyond promises are also provided to the state. He further said that “around ninety percent promises that fall under the act are fulfilled and remaining benefits will be fulfilled at any cost,”
He also clarified that he totally respect the promises that were made by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh related to the special status of AP but the conflicts that were raised sue to the contrary recommendation of 14th Finance Commission in the matter leads the government to provide special assistance to Andhra Pradesh instead of special status as the financial aids that centre supplies to the special category states or non-special category states are equal.
