Director Mahendran is one of the most respected directors in our country, and has directed some classics, such as Uthiri Pookal, Mullum Malarum, Johny, Nanjathai Kilthe etc. The director died a few years ago.
After directing several classic films, Mahendran was also seen as an actor in films like Theri, Sitakathi and was last seen in superstar Rajinikanth's film Petta. Today is Mahendran's birth anniversary, and his son, director John, has shared a special voice note sent by superstar Rajinikanth on the occasion.
In a voice note, Rajinikanth says, "People praise my performance in the film Mullum Malarum, and all credit must be given to Mahendran. He is a very close friend of mine, and a very different person. Didn't get worried about fame. And was just focusing. Recently I happened to see Uthiri Pukal when he gave good films and it made me tear up. We lost him very soon, and I got the privilege of spending time with him in Kasi between acting and shooting in the film Petta. It has been 2 years since he passed away and I am happy to remember him to this day ".
