New Delhi: Indian Farmers Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, who has been standing with farmers at ghazipur border for more than a year, has now returned home in Muzaffarnagar. Rakesh Tikait, who left ghazipur border with the last batch of agitating farmers, was accorded a grand welcome when he reached Meerut. When questioned about his picture in the poster of his political party, Tikait made it clear that he would not enter politics.

Rakesh Tikait said, 'I am not going to contest any election. No party should use my name and picture either. Rakesh Tikait is the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, which has been a major partner in the kisan movement. Rakesh Tikait, who has been on the Ghazipur border since November 28, 2020, emerged as the face of the agitation on January 26 this year. After a large number of UP police stationed at Ghazipur, speculation started that the agitation could now be called off.

Meanwhile, a video of Rakesh Tikait getting emotional and crying had gone viral. Thereafter, the entire picture of the agitation changed and overnight a large group of farmers from western UP, Haryana and Punjab left for the borders of Delhi. This once again led to the agitation and has now come to an end after the withdrawal of three new agricultural laws.
