Ram Nath Kovind honours military personnel with Shaurya Chakra Award

President Ram Nath Kovind awarded Lance Naik Sandeep Singh of 4 Para (Special Forces) the Shaurya Chakra (posthumously) for killing one foreign terrorist and wounded two others in an operation in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018. Gurpreet Kaur, his wife, received the honour.

President Ram Nath Kovind, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, bestowed two Kirti Chakras, one Vir Chakra, and ten Shaurya Chakras, two of which were posthumous, on members of the Armed Forces and paramilitary forces during the Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-1) at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on November 22, 2021.

Personnel who displayed remarkable gallantry, indomitable courage, and extraordinary dedication to duty received gallantry honours.

The President also presented 13 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, two Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, and 24 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals for exemplary service of an extraordinary kind, according to a news release from the Ministry of Defence.
