The great freedom fighters Ram Prasad Bismil Ashfaq Ulla Khan and Roshan Singh were hanged on this day on 19 December 1927. This day is celebrated as a sacrifice day. Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan and Roshan Singh gave up everything to give India independence. These freedom fighters were crucified to carry out the Kakori incident. On the night of 9 August 1925, several revolutionaries including Chandrashekhar Azad, Ram Prasad Bismil Ashfaq Ulla Khan, Rajendra Lahiri and Roshan Singh looted the treasury that was being carried in a train between Kakori and Alamnagar at some distance from Lucknow. This incident is known as Kakori Kand in history. This incident caught the attention of people across the country. Chandrashekhar Azad escaped the clutches of the police after looting the treasury, but Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ulla Khan, Rajendra Lahiri, and Roshan Singh were sentenced to death. The remaining revolutionaries were imprisoned for 4 years and some were given black water.

Ashfaq Ulla Khan: Ashfaq Ulla Khan was born in Shahjahanpur. He played an important role in the Kakori incident. He was the best poet of the Urdu language. Ashfaq and Pandit Ramprasad Bismil were close friends.

Sarfaroshi's wish: During the court hearing after being arrested in Kakori case, revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil said, 'Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna Ab Hamare Dil Me Hain, Dekhna Hai Zor Kitna Bazu-e-Katil Me Hai?' There were a few lines of Bismil was very fond of writing poems and poetry. Even before embracing the hanging noose, Bismil read some lions of 'Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna Ab Hamare Dil Me Hain'. This was the creation of Bismil Azimabadi, the famous poet of Azimabad, Patna, but its identity became more about Ram Prasad Bismil.
