Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad, who is often in controversy for his statements, has once again made an objectionable statement. Jitendra said in Mumbai on Friday (April 21) that festivals like Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti seem to only incite riots. Awhad said that the coming years would be the year of religious riots. He said that due to the riots, the atmosphere in the cities has become very poisonous. Let us tell you that, due to the controversial statements of Jitendra Awhad, the Maharashtra Human Rights Commission has also issued a notice against him.
In January 2023, Jitendra Awhad claimed about Aurangzeb that he was not cruel and anti-Hindu. Jitendra Awhad had said that "Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was brought to Bahadurgarh, where his eyes were gouged out. There was a Vishnu temple near the Bahadurgarh fort. If Aurangzeb had been cruel or anti-Hindu, he would have demolished that temple too."
Whereas, in November last year, the Marathi film 'Har Har Mahadev' was forcibly closed by former Maharashtra Housing Minister and NCP leader Jitendra Awhad at a multiplex in Thane. Not only this, he had also assaulted a person. He was also arrested for this. Awhad had alleged that the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji was distorted in the film for political propaganda.
