On Saturday, Goa Minister Michael Lobo demanded that those convicted in rape and murder cases should be hanged publicly to curb crime against women and send a strong message to society. He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to bring amendments in the law to give public hanging of such criminals.

According to media reports, he made this demand a day after all the four accused in the rape and murder case of Hyderabad vet were killed in an 'encounter' with the police on Friday morning. The Port Minister of Goa said in a conversation with reporters, 'Taking cognizance of the increasing crimes against women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are in the Parliament for the purpose of making provision of a public death sentence for the accused of rape and murder. Necessary amendments should be made in the Penal Code (IPC).

Apart from this, he said that by running the cases in such cases in a fast court, the law should be amended to provide justice to the victim in four months. The minister said, 'Telangana incident is not a normal crime. It is a crime to be done beyond the imagination of any human being. There should be no place in our society for such criminals. Such criminals should be hanged publicly.
