On Saturday, Goa Minister Michael Lobo demanded that those convicted in rape and murder cases should be hanged publicly to curb crime against women and send a strong message to society. He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to bring amendments in the law to give public hanging of such criminals.

According to media reports, he made this demand a day after all the four accused in the rape and murder case of Hyderabad vet were killed in an 'encounter' with the police on Friday morning. The Port Minister of Goa said in a conversation with reporters, 'Taking cognizance of the increasing crimes against women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are in the Parliament for the purpose of making provision of a public death sentence for the accused of rape and murder.
