In the city of Servian, Switzerland, a rare turtle was born last month. It is an albino turtle, which belongs to the Galapagos species. Turtles of this species are giant. A month after birth, this turtle first appeared in front of the people in the zoo. In the Western city of Tropiquarium, as part of the celebration of the conservation of endangered species, 2 turtles were born last month.
Of these two turtles, one of them is as black as its mother, while the other child is albino meaning white. Its body is white and the colour of the eyes is red. The sex of these turtles is not yet known. This is the first time in the world that an albino galápagos turtle has been born. Although other animals are also albinos, when it comes to turtles, this is the first case in itself. No albino turtle has been found in the wild yet.
The mother of these two children weighs more than 100 kg. The mother laid 5 eggs on February 11 and this albino turtle was born on May 1. The second child was born on May 5. Eggs were kept in the incubator for two and a half months. The father of these children weighs about 180 kg. The couple is about 30 years old and has just matured sexually. In this species, the reproductive success rate is just 2-3 percent.
