Delhi Marathon 2020: Rashpal Singh and Jyoti win title

Elite runners of the country, Rashpal Singh and Jyoti Gavate performed brilliantly among the strong contenders to win the title of IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon held on Sunday. Rashpal from Pune's Army Sports Institute participated in the race as a strong contender for the title and met the expectations of all by completing the full marathon (42.2 km) in 2.23.29 hours to repeat the success of the previous year. On the other hand, Jyoti of Maharashtra won the title with a big margin, once again dominating the women's category.

Jyoti completed the full marathon starting from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in 2.50.37 hours and finished first by taking 8 minutes less time than her nearest rival. On Sunday, more than 22000 runners took part in the fifth edition of the New Delhi Marathon while fighting the morning cold. This marathon was organized in four different categories.

Rashpal, running in excellent form, did not like to take risks in the beginning and for this reason kept running with a fixed speed. However, he was ahead of the rest of the competitors during this period. In the final phase, Rushpal increased his pace and emerged as the winner. Arjun Pradhan, who represents the Indian Army, finished second with 2.24.18 hours while Saithi Sanwaru Yadav of his own team finished third with 2.25.34 hours. While there was close competition in the men's section, the women's section proved to be one sided. Jyoti has got the first place with a big difference without any problem. Swati Gadhave won the silver medal with a time of 2.50.10 hours while Jigmate Dolma won the bronze with 3.03.10 hours.
