New Delhi: Former Head Coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri has made a big statement about fast bowler Umran Malik. Shastri believes that Umran Malik should not be included in Team India for the T20 World Cup to be played in October-November later this year. Shastri said it is too early to give Umran a big break in his career and the youngster needs to be groomed to join the World Cup squad.

In IPL 2022, Umran Malik impressed everyone with his fire-spewing balls. Due to his excellent performance, Umran has got a chance in Team India for the ongoing home T20 series against South Africa. However, Umran could not make it to the final XI for the opening game held in Delhi on Thursday (June 9). In that match, Team India had to face defeat by seven wickets.

Talking to the media, Ravi Shastri said, "No, not in T20s right now. Take Umran with your team and prepare them. If possible, give them an opportunity to play 50-over cricket or Test cricket. Prepare them with the red-ball team and then see how it's going."
