Mumbai: India's star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin performed brilliantly in the Test series against New Zealand. He took a total of 14 wickets in the two-Test series. In the first Test at Kanpur, he picked up 6 (3/82 & 3/35) wickets in two innings, while he took 8 (4/8 & 4/34) wickets on Mumbai's Wankhede pitch. Ashwin was named Player of the Series for his performance.

With this, the 35-year-old veteran spinner surpassed legendary bowler Richard Hadley. In fact, when it comes to taking the most wickets in Test matches between India and New Zealand, this record was held by Hadley. He took the highest number of 65 wickets in 14 Tests. Ashwin has taken 66 wickets in 9 Test cricket so far. Ashwin needed 8 wickets to break Hadley's record in Mumbai and he achieved the feat.

Ashwin has now become the highest wicket-taker in India vs New Zealand Test matches. He has taken 66 wickets in 9 Tests for India. At the same time, Sir Richard Hadlee took 14 Tests, 65 wickets for New Zealand, the third name in this list is veteran Indian spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, who took 12 Tests, 57 wickets. Ashwin has equalled leg-spinner Anil Kumble's record for most wickets at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Kumble took 38 wickets at Wankhede. Ashwin has also taken so many wickets. In the same Test match, Kiwi bowler Ajaz Patel also equalled Anil Kumble's 10-wicket record in an innings.
