New Delhi: Following a resounding innings defeat in the first Test against South Africa at Centurion, the Indian cricket team receives a potential boost with the prospect of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja returning for the second and final Test starting on January 3 in Cape Town. The crushing innings and 32-run loss at SuperSport Park on Day 3 of the first match marked a disappointing start for India in the series.

Jadeja was sidelined for the opening Test due to an upper back spasm that surfaced on the first morning of the five-day game. However, there is optimism as Jadeja actively participated in the warm-up session on the third morning at SuperSport Park, showing no signs of discomfort. Witnesses noted that he engaged in fitness drills and even bowled for a period during the lunch break on the third day. Team India's strength and conditioning coach Rajnikant expressed confidence that, with four days remaining until the final encounter, Jadeja is likely to feature in the Cape Town match.

India faced significant challenges in the first Test, struggling against the host's dominance. Lackluster performances from both the batting and bowling units led to a comprehensive loss before the conclusion of the third day's play. Despite KL Rahul's impressive century in the first innings, India could only manage a total close to 250 runs. The bowlers struggled on a challenging Centurion pitch, conceding a 163-run lead. The batting display in the second innings was subpar, resulting in a humiliating defeat with a score just above 100 runs.
