Bengaluru [India], May 31 (NT): Real Kashmir FC have grabbed promotion to the I-League after winning the 2017-18 Second Division League title on Wednesday.

David Robertson's team only required a point to win the title and promotion on the final day of the 2nd Division League season, but Real Kashmir FC showed a clinically competent performance to clear Delhi’s Hindustan FC 3-2 at the FSV Arena in Bengaluru.

On a related note, The 49-year old Robertson is a Scottish-born defender who played with Aberdeen, Rangers FC, Leeds United and Montrose.

Real Kashmir scored through Danish Farooq (42'), Ifham Tariq Mir (22') and Nadong Bhutia (67') though Kushant Chauhan (34' & 80') was on target for Hindustan FC.

Hindustan FC kicked off the match like a house on fire as they took the game to Real Kashmir. Delhi’s Hindustan FC created the first hazard in the 17th minute when Nikhil Gehlot delivered a free-kick into the box, but Pawan Pratap Singh was not capable to strike the target with his header.

That proved to be an expensive miss as Real Kashmir took the lead in next five minutes afterward through Ifham grabbed a pass from Danish before evenly slotting past Mithun Samonto.

Delhi’s Hindustan FC then came close to equaling matters in the 28th minute when Loveday Enyinnaya lost possession inside the box, but Kushant's shot went wide of the goal.
