Raman Lamba was a legendary cricketer who came into prominence in the 1986-87 one-day series against Australia, when a hundred and two fifties in six matches won him the Man of the Series award.

Raman Lamba was born on 2 January 1960 in Meerut. He was a right-handed batsman who was also noted for his fitness. He began his Ranji Trophy career in 1980-81 and continued until his death in the 1997–98 season.
Raman Lamba Lamba began playing club cricket in Ireland and event represented the Irish side in an unofficial 1-Day match. He married an Irishwoman as well.

Lamba was well-known even though his career in international cricket did not succeed. He  was one of the first few international players to play club cricket in Bangladesh. Club cricket in Bangladesh was far more competitive than one might imagine given that the country had not yet joined the ICC in its entirety. Lamba and a few more international players increased the draw. In 1991, Lamba began playing club cricket in Bangladesh. He used to jokingly refer to himself as the "Don of Dhaka" to his pals.

In 1998, Lamba was playing for Abahani Krira Chakra in a Dhaka Premier League match at the Dhaka Stadium versus Mohammedan Sporting. Mohammedan and Abahani were bitter enemies back then. They are still.

Mashud, Khaled Pilot served as Abahani's de facto captain. For one over, he added a left-arm spinner to the attack. Mashud made the decision to place a fielder at forward short-leg after three balls. Raman, who excels in fielding in such situations, was called. Lamba argued that it was only a matter of three balls when Mashud requested him to wear a helmet.

In 1987 Raman Lamba met his future wife, Irishwoman Kim Michelle Crothers and they were engaged for three years before getting married on 7, September 1990. Lamba commenced playing as an overseas professional cricketer in Ireland with Ulster from 1990.
