The name of this grape variety is Ruby Roman. A grape of this particular species weighs about 20 grams. There are about 24 grapes in a bunch.

Due to the high price, this red grape is especially known as the fruit of the rich. This special species of grape was developed 12 years ago by the government of Ishikawa province. This grape is very sweet to eat. Red grape falls in the category of luxury fruits in Japan. It is given here as a gift on auspicious occasions. Actually, ruby is not easily found in Roman Japan. That is why it is so expensive.

A record bid for this grape was made on Tuesday in the wholesale market of Kanazawa. In the auction, a bunch of grapes was bought by a company named Hyakurakuso for 11 thousand dollars i.e. about 7.52 lakh rupees. This company is associated with the hotel business in Japan. Ishikawa Cooperative Society says that by September it will export about 26 thousand flakes of Ruby Roman variety.
