Actor Mahesh Anand, 57, was found dead in his first floor flat in Kinara Apartments, Versova, February 9, 2019. The cause of his death is not yet clear and his body was taken to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem. The Versova police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) in the matter.
Mahesh Anand made a mark by playing the close aide of Hindi cinema’s quintessential villain; lived alone in his Versova flat.
Mahesh Anand was popular in the ‘90s for his negative roles in Hindi films. Some of his best-known movies include Shahenshah, Majboor, Swarg, Thanedaar, Vishwatma, Gumrah, Khuddar, Betaaj Badshah, Vijeta and Kurukshetra.
Anand, a well-known antagonist in Hindi films from the 1980s and 1990s, collaborated with the majority of the industry's top actors, including Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, and Amitabh Bachchan. In movies like Shahenshah, Khuddar, Kurukshetra, Coolie No. 1, Swarg, to name a few, he primarily portrayed the part of the main villain's close assistant. He most recently made an appearance in Rangeela Raja, a movie starring Govinda, after a 16-year absence. He tweeted about his experiences on social media and announced that he has returned to the Hindi film industry after a long absence when the movie came out on January 18.
Prior to his death, Mahesh Anand had revealed that he had been through financial difficulties during his time away from the Hindi film industry. “Nobody signed me for 18 years. But God came in the form of a human being and offered me a small role. It’s a stepping stone back into the industry. Actually it has not hit me till now because for 18 years I have lived alone, with no work and no money,” he had said.
