Popular South Indian actor Vijay Prakash is celebrating his 49th birthday today,  February 21, and hashtags around the actor are trending at the top on social media. Born in Karnataka on February 21, 1976, Vijay Prakash is an Indian playback vocalist who also composes music. He has provided his voice for Indian filims primarily in Telugu and Kannada. He has also performed songs in Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi.  He serves as one of the judges on Zee Kannada's Kannada reality programme Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Also, he has appeared on stage with Zakir Hussain. For the song "Nammooralli Chaligaladalli" from the movie Lovely Manasugalu, Prakash was given the Karnataka Government's "Best Playback Singer" award for 2016.

The song "Jai Ho," which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song, was created by four different artists, including him. He sung the section of the song where the words "Jai Ho" take a prolonged high tone at various points. In the category of "Best Song Written For Motion Film, Television Or Other Visual Media," the song also received a Grammy Award. Additionally, for the songs Gatiya Ilidu from the Kannada movie Ulidavaru Kandante and Belageddu from Kirik Party, he has twice won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Artist - Kannada.

He is one of the four artists to get credit for the song "Jai Ho", which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008. In particular, he sang that part with the words "Jai Ho" which takes an extended high pitch on many occasions of the song. The song has also won a Grammy Award in the category "Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media" category.
