New Delhi: There is a lot of debate on global warming these days. Every year, due to imbalance in the environment, there is some kind of calamity. An increase in the temperature of the earth has been recorded. Which is a cause for concern. The number of forests in the world is rapidly decreasing. The forests are shrinking due to increasing population and expansion of industries. According to a report, from 2014 to 2018, the Earth lost more than 26 million hectares of forest every year which could have a serious impact on wildlife and climate change.

Despite the governments of various countries resolving to reduce the loss of natural forests by 2020, the forest area is decreasing. The report-issuing organization 'Climate Focus' has warned that it is impossible for governments to fulfill their resolve in view of the destruction of forests during the last five years. More than 200 were signed by the 2014 New York Declaration on Forests, which included environmental groups in addition to various countries and companies.

This report has been released on the occasion of the United Nations Climate Summit on 23 September. The report also mentioned that between 2014 and 2018, 26 million hectares of forests were burnt annually, a 43 percent increase in the rate of forest damage in the world compared to 2001-2013. Tropical forests account for about 90 percent of the world's forest destruction from 2001 to 2015. Their annual rate of damage increased by 44 percent in the year 2014-2018.

This was due to clearing the forest for crops like soybean and palm oil. It was the highest hit on major tropical forests of South America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Let us know that the fire in the Amazon forests had been in the news in recent times. This forest is one of the big source of oxygen to the earth alone.
