Coronavirus affecting hearing capacity; John Hopkins' University research revealed

New Delhi: Amidst the growing cases of the global pandemic Coronavirus, new and shocking research has emerged. This research suggests that the coronavirus can infect the ear as well as the bone behind it. Till now it was being said everywhere that coronavirus affects the nose, throat and lungs badly.

The research, published in the medical journal JAMA Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, mentions about three patients who died of coronavirus infection. One of these three was a 60-year-old male and the other an 80-year-old female. Coronavirus has been found in the bone behind the ears of both these patients. John Hopkins University School of Medicine has said that after this research, the ears of people with symptoms of coronavirus should also be examined.

The 80-year-old female patient was found to have the virus just between her right ear, while the 60-year-old had an infection in the middle of the left and right ear. This is not the first time that the matter of coronavirus infection has been detected in the ear. However, some people have reported that they can't hear properly after the infection. The team of researchers recommended that people now have corona infection checked in their ears as well.
