Lucknow: Five ministers of the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh have submitted their resignations. The ministers include Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal, Irrigation Minister Dharampal Singh, Minister of State for Basic Education Anupama Jaiswal and Minister of State for Earth and Miners Archana Pandey. Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Independent Dev Singh had already resigned as minister as the state BJP president. Governor AnandiBen has accepted their resignation. A notification to this effect was issued by Additional Chief Secretary of Information Avanish Awasthi.
These ministers were removed from the Cabinet due to their lax functioning. Finance Minister Rajesh Aggarwal's resignation has been attributed to his 75-year age, but sources say the feedback from his departmental chief secretary was overwhelming. Rajesh Agarwal and the Additional Chief Secretary were unable to keep pace from the beginning. The irregularities in transfers and increasing commissioning in the Irrigation Department have fallen on the Gauge Irrigation Minister Dharampal Singh.
Minister of State for Basic Education Anupama Jaiswal was in contention with the transfer of Basic Education Officers to the department over tenders for footwear, sweaters and textbooks.
