Restrictions reintroduced in Srinagar after incidents of violence

SRINAGAR: In Jammu and Kashmir, restrictions have been tightened in some areas on Sunday following incidents of violence a day earlier. Meanwhile, officials said the first batch of Hajj pilgrims from Saudi Arabia has returned to Kashmir. He said, restrictions are continuing in several areas of the valley for the 14th day on Sunday.

Officials said, fresh restrictions have been imposed in areas where the situation worsened on Saturday. Restrictions were relaxed at many places in the city and other areas in the valley , which created trouble . He said, there were demonstrations at about 12 places in which several protesters were injured. However, it is not yet known how many people were injured. Officials said, the aircraft, which was carrying about 300 pilgrims, arrived at Srinagar airport in the morning.

He said, elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth movement of devotees. Only one member of the family has been allowed at the airport to welcome hajis, officials said. State Road Transport Authority (SRTC) buses have been deployed in coordination with all district administrations for movement of pilgrims and their relatives.
