NEW DELHI: The revamped Vande Bharat train, now sporting an eye-catching orange exterior, is poised to make its debut on August 19th, departing from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. This newly designed train introduces an array of innovative safety features and technical enhancements, aiming to offer passengers an improved travel experience.

Comprising eight coaches, the new Vande Bharat trains boast an attractive orange color scheme. Passengers can look forward to an enhanced seat reclining angle, along with improved accessibility to mobile charging points. Executive Chair car class coaches feature extended footrests for added comfort, and basin enhancements have been made to prevent water splashes. Additional upgrades include upgraded toilet lighting, touch-sensitive reading lamps, and advanced roller blind fabric.

In a bid to better accommodate passengers with special needs, the updated Vande Bharat train is outfitted with secure attachment points for wheelchairs in the driving trailer coaches. Furthermore, an anti-climbing device has been integrated to bolster safety measures.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw previously shared that the inspiration for the vibrant orange color of the train's 28th rake derives from the hues of the Indian Tricolour.

Notably, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) achieved a significant milestone in October 2022 by producing over 70,000 coaches since its inception in 1955. This remarkable achievement solidifies ICF's position as the world's leading manufacturer of passenger coaches.

With a multitude of new routes introduced this year, India now boasts an impressive roster of 25 pairs of Vande Bharat services, 18 of which were launched in 2023. The inaugural Vande Bharat Express embarked on its journey on February 15, 2019, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, shuttling between New Delhi and Varanasi.

The Vande Bharat Express, a domestically produced semi-high-speed train, stands as a testament to Indian engineering prowess. Designed for enhanced passenger comfort and convenience, this self-propelled train set offers a faster and more pleasant travel experience. Originally known as Train 18, the train was manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.
