Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal's debut production, 'Girls Will Be Girls,' is set to make its mark at the South by Southwest Festival. The duo expressed their joy and pride at the film's selection, stating that the journey from idea to screen has been incredibly fulfilling. The film, directed by Shuchi Talati, will be featured in the 'Festival Favourites' category at the event, which takes place annually in Austin, Texas from March 8 to 16.

'Girls Will Be Girls' takes place in a boarding school nestled in the Himalayan hills of northern India. It follows the story of Mira, a 16-year-old girl, as she navigates her rebellious awakening while uncovering her mother's own untold coming-of-age tale. The cast includes Preeti Panagrahi, Kani Kusruti, Jitin Gulati, Preeti Panigrahi, and Kesav Binoy Kiron.

This Indo-French co-production is a collaboration between Pushing Buttons Studios, led by Chadha and Fazal, and Blink Digital, Crawling Angel Films, and Dolce Vita Films. Following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received accolades including the Audience Award: World Cinema Dramatic and the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting for Panagrahi, 'Girls Will Be Girls' continues to gain recognition.

Chadha and Fazal reiterated their excitement about the film's selection for SXSW, expressing gratitude to the audience, critics, and festivals for their warm reception. They emphasized their goal of creating a coming-of-age story with universal resonance and thanked director Shuchi Talati and the entire team for their exceptional collaboration.
