Previous Test captain Ricky Ponting will serve as an assistant coach for Australia amid one month from now's Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka.
Ponting will work close with previous partners Justin Langer and Jason Gillespie for the arrangement, which begins in Melbourne on February 17 preceding making a beeline for Geelong (February 20) and Adelaide (February 22).
Driven by Langer, the trio will serve in a between time limit while officeholder mentor Darren Lehmann is away for Australia's Test voyage through India.
It will be Ponting's first attack into training with the national side.The 42-year-old beforehand trained the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, driving the T20 side to a title in 2015.
"The reality Ricky, Justin, and Jason all know each other so well through their numerous years together in the Australia group implies they will gel rapidly," Cricket Australia performance manager Pat Howard said on Sunday.
