Chandigarh: Many important bills have been passed during the current session of the Haryana Assembly. On one of these, the 'Right to Recall' bill for Gram Panchayats was also introduced in the House on Friday, which has been passed unanimously. After the implementation of this bill, the villagers have now got the right that if a sarpanch is not working properly, then he can be removed from his post even before the term is over.
After the implementation of this new rule, the Sarpanch is expected to bring revolutionary changes in the matter of rural development. Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala told that the dream of 'Right to recall' was seen by the former Deputy Prime Minister of the country, Chaudhary Devi Lal. Regarding this 'Right to Recall' bill passed in the Legislative Assembly, Chautala said that the Panchayat Department often had such complaints that the sarpanch is acting against the public sentiments of the villagers arbitrarily. Every year hundreds of such complaints reach from the block level to the district level and the state headquarters.
Chautala said that after the passage of the Right to Recall bill, now the villagers have the right that if the Sarpanch is not getting the development work done in the village, then it can be removed from the post in the middle term itself. Dushyant Chautala said that to remove the sarpanch, 33% of the voters of the village will submit a complaint in writing 'no-confidence' to the officer concerned. This proposal will go to the Block Development and Panchayat Officer and CEO.
