'Riots will erupt..', Hussain files PIL in Bombay HC to stop release of 'The Kashmir Files'

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has agreed to hear a petition seeking a stay on the release of Vivek Agnihotri's movie 'The Kashmir Files'. A 'Public Interest Litigation (PIL)' was filed in the High Court in the matter, which is scheduled to come up for hearing on Tuesday (March 8, 2022) at 4 pm. The petition was taken up before Chief Justice Dipankar Datta for an urgent listing, on which he agreed to hear.

 

The PIL has been filed by Aadhar Hussain Sayyed, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. 'The Kashmir Files' is scheduled to release on Friday (March 11, 2022). The petition said that the trailer of the film depicts Muslims massacred Kashmiri Pandits, which is going to hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. Aasha hussain syed has said that the entire film shows only one side of this development, which can provoke the Hindu society by angering it. The petition also sought to stop the release of the film as well as its trailer from YouTube.  He has claimed that after the hindus are agitated, there can be heavy violence in the entire country, which will lead to a huge loss of life and property. The petition also claimed that political parties may use the film to promote communal violence in view of elections in five states.

The petitioner said that the trailer of the film should be removed from all social media sites immediately. At the same time, film director Vivek Agnihotri reacted to the news of the hearing and said, "Tomorrow at 4 pm! We will see. Advocates Ravi Kadam and Rashmi Khandekar appeared in the Bombay High Court on behalf of the makers of the film. CJ Dutta asked for the release date of the film and then fixed the next day's date for the hearing. The lawyers said they have not yet seen the petition and they have come to know about it through the news. Let us know that, in 'The Kashmir Files', where on the one hand there are veteran actors like Anupam Kher, Punit Issar and Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar is also an important part of it, Pallavi Joshi has also played an important role in the film. The story of the film revolves around the massacre of Hindus in Kashmir in the 90s.
