London: The Indian cricket team that toured England is facing a corona threat. Two players including wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant were tested positive. One of them has reported negatively. While Pant is still in isolation, the second test will be conducted on July 18. However, they have not shown any symptoms.
A BCCI official told media that Rishabh Pant was found to be infected with corona on July 10. In fact, Pant arrived on July 8 to watch the semi-finals of the Euro Cup (England vs Denmark). Pant was accompanied by Hanuma Vihari and Jasprit Bumrah. Now questions are being raised as to why the management did not take stringent steps even after so many days of Pant's report coming positive. Indian coach Ravi Shastri arrived to watch the Wimbledon final on July 11 after Pant was found infected. Other players were also seen hanging out with the family. No one was stopped nor any protective steps were taken. All the players have received the first dose of the corona vaccine Covishield. All the players have to take the second dose in England. Some of them have received another dose.
Several players including captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have arrived in England along with the family. He was holidaying with his family after playing the final match of the World Test Championship in Southampton on June 23. According to BCCI officials, most of the players in the Indian team stayed around London. Some players had also arrived in different parts of England to visit. All the players were scheduled to join the team on July 14. Just 2 days before the ODI series against Pakistan, on July 6, 7 people, including 3 England players, came positive. However, now all the players are fine.
