Dancer and choreographer Avirup Sengupta and actress Rituparna Sengupta recently got together to organise a Covid-19 vaccination drive for a group of specially-abled people at a city hospital. Talking about this noble initiative, the dancer-choreographer said, “Ritu di is like my elder sister and even though she is in Singapore right now, she helped me a lot and constantly coordinated over the phone with the doctors and hospital authorities to get this vaccination drive done. I, along with some of my colleagues from the dance academy, also took the first dose of vaccination. My students, who all have taken the first jab, are doing fine. I would request everyone, who is eligible for the vaccination, to go ahead and go for it. We should not panic about the after effects of the vaccination, since this is the only way to curb the virus from spreading.”

Avirup is also planning to host a few digital dance shows with his students in the coming days. “Our work can’t stop and this is the time when arts can add some solace in our lives. Even during last year’s lockdown, we had done a few digital shows and this time round too my students are geared up for such shows online. Our motto is to spread joy and positivity through our work and keep entertaining the audience,” Avirup signed off.
