A sudden fire broke out in a roadways bus on GT Road near Ramadevi intersection on Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, there has been a stampede among the passengers on the bus. The bus driver and conductor, including passengers, escaped and somehow saved their lives. Whoever saw the burning bus stopped there. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after receiving information from locals. A large number of passengers' belongings were reportedly burnt in the fire.

There were 40 people including the driver, conductor: It has been learned that Ranju Kumar, a resident of Prayagraj, the bus conductor, said that the bus from Leader Road Depot had left from Prayagraj to Kanpur at around 6:30 in the morning. About 40 passengers, including driver Dinesh Sonkar, were aboard the bus at the Ramadevi intersection. When the bus reached in front of Malik Guest House on GT Road, suddenly the engine caught fire due to short circuit. Passengers gave information to the driver and conductor when smoke came out of the engine.

High flames: According to reports, the entire bus was engulfed by the terrible flames. No one dared to help because of the flames. The one who got the place jumped from where he got the place. Ram Bhajan, 70, a resident of Prayagraj, who was among the passengers, was already in a bad condition. The smoke worsened his condition. Similar was the case with Rukmini Devi. She somehow got out of the bus with a satchel in one hand and a stick in the other. The women somehow managed to get out of the bus with innocent children in their arms.
