Legendary Australian tennis player Rod Laver has heaped praise on young Australian tennis player Ashley Barty. Barty's compatriot Lever, who has won 11 Grand Slam singles titles, tweeted, "Dear Ashley, the news of your retirement from tennis has stunned the world. You are heading towards a fantastic career with humility and a smiling smile. You are the winner in every sense and I admire you very much and wish you to be happy and healthy ahead.''

Meanwhile, former world number one tennis player Billy Jean King of the United States said in a tweet that Australia has a rich history in tennis, and Ashley Barty has represented it very well. I have no doubt that she is going to continue to inspire and bring about positive change in the world. I wish her all the best for the next chapter of her life.  

It is worth mentioning that three-time Grand Slam winner Ashley Barty surprised the whole world on Wednesday by announcing her retirement from tennis at the age of 25. Barty won three major singles titles in the 2019 Roland Garros, 2021 Wimbledon and the 2022 Australian Open at three different venues and was number one in the WTA rankings for a total of 121 weeks. Her most recent win at the Australian Open is going to be remembered as her most impressive win, as she became the first Australian to win the title in her domestic Grand Slam event in 44 years. At all levels of the game, Barty also held a 305-102 record in singles and a 200-64 record in doubles.
