Rohan Jaitley, son of the late Union Minister Arun Jaitley, has been re-elected as the president of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA). In a closely watched election, Jaitley defeated former cricketer Kirti Azad, securing a decisive victory with 1,577 votes compared to Azad’s 777.
This is Jaitley’s second term as DDCA president. He was first elected unopposed in 2020 and went on to defeat advocate Vikas Singh in 2021. Jaitley’s leadership has continued the family’s association with DDCA, as his late father Arun Jaitley served as its president for 14 years.
The election witnessed significant voter turnout, with 2,413 votes cast. A candidate required 1,207 votes to secure a win in the elections. Alongside the president’s post, several other key positions were also filled during the polling.

Kirti Azad’s Allegations
Kirti Azad, a member of India’s iconic 1983 World Cup-winning team and a sitting Trinamool Congress MP from Bardhaman-Durgapur, had earlier raised allegations of corruption within the DDCA. Despite his claims, Jaitley’s overwhelming win reflects strong support from the voters.
The DDCA elections have once again reaffirmed Rohan Jaitley’s leadership and his continued presence at the helm of Delhi’s cricketing affairs.
Kirti Azad, a celebrated member of India’s historic 1983 World Cup-winning team and a current Member of Parliament representing the Trinamool Congress, was aiming to present a formidable challenge to Jaitley. However, his campaign struggled to gain momentum among the electorate. Allegations of corruption and his vocal opposition to the current establishment appeared to alienate key sections of voters, failing to strike the desired chord. Despite his efforts and political stature, Azad’s messaging did not resonate strongly enough to turn the tide in his favor, ultimately leaving him short of the mark in this contest.
