A few days ago it was announced that surpassing all Big Budget Bollywood and South Indian movie, a small Budget Gujarati movie Chhello Show was selected as India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards for the international film category. Various people show their disappointment as SS Rajamouli RRR was not selected now he himself shows his disappointment over India’s Oscar entry.

RRR director SS Rajamouli also Breaks his silence over Oscar 2023 selection.  He opens up about RRR being overlooked for India's official entry to the Oscar. While the filmmaker was happy for Chhello, he stated that ‘RRR had a much bigger chance’ at the Oscars. Rajamouli in a recent interview expressed his dissatisfaction with India’s Oscar entry. He said, “It is disappointing. What has happened, and we should go forward with it.”

He further said that he is happy for the Gujarati film. He added, “But I am happy because it (Chhello Show) is also an Indian film and it has also been shortlisted for Oscars. I’m quite happy for it. Of course, everyone knew RRR had a much bigger chance.”  He further said not wanting to offend the Film Federation of India committee, the director added, “I don’t know how the committee, what are guidelines for the committee. I don't know that and I can’t comment on that.”

Speaking of RRR, it is a fictional story set in the 1920s pre-independent era and is based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. While Ram Charan played Ram, NTR was seen as Bheem. The film has grossed over Rs. 1200 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
