"Not a word was uttered by the liberals. There is not even a letter to Mamata from the liberals. I am disgusted by the response to certain incidents like this. The entire district is in a panic due to this murder. The murders came to light when the neighbours did not reach Vijayadashami's puja pandal and saw worried neighbours visiting their house, and found the door locked from within". The National Commission for Women has sought answers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Mamta Government on this incident.
