New Delhi: The Right to Information Act (RTI) Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha even after the heated debate between the government and the opposition in the Lok Sabha on Right to Information (RTI). The bill will now be tabled in the upper house on Thursday. On the other hand, the opposition is still strongly opposing to the amendment to the RTI Act.

Before the introduction of the bill in the Upper House, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad has put a demand before the government in the House on Wednesday. It is also affecting the authority of state governments. We demand that the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill be referred to the Selection Committee.

However, there is no response from the government in this regard. Leader of the House in the Upper House Thawarchand Gehlot has said that the bill has not yet been introduced in the House and there is no justification at the moment to say anything further. On Wednesday, the Lower House strongly opposed the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill.
