The ruling AIADMK is preparing itself up for the first mega election meeting at YMCA grounds in Chennai where around 5,000 party workers will gather on Sunday. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and joint coordinator R Vaithilingam are expected to give enthusiastic talk for the AIADMK workers. 

The AIADMK sources said, invitation has been sent to all the ranks and files in Chennai unit for the meeting where the party will officially launch the election campaign in the city. The district secretaries have also been asked to ensure that all the ward secretaries, campaign managers and booth level workers are assembled for the event. The functionaries who are to share the dais with the Chief Minister and state Ministers also took COVID-19 tests on Friday to attend the election mass meeting. 

It is said that the top leaders will discuss the arrangements made for the general council and executive committee meeting scheduled on January 9, after the meeting. The party will notify the recent changes and appointment of an 11-member steering committee to advise the party on election-related issues. AIADMK sources said, the city reporting less than 300 cases gives confidence to gather meeting at Vaanagaram in January 9 which was scheduled December postponed due to Covid 19.
