UNO: When accusing the United States of attempting to "possess" and divide Asia in the name of its Indo-Pacific strategy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for Taiwan.

Lavrov described the West as the "self-appointed master of the world" in a fiery 24-minute speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday. He also alleged that the US is "playing with fire around Taiwan" by providing military aid to the self-governing island.

Under the pretense of establishing a rules-based order, Lavrov portrayed America as an attempt to establish a unipolar model of the world.

He claimed that "the West is drawing lines of division everywhere along the lines of conflict with the bloc." "You either support us or oppose us. There is no third option. Compromise is not allowed.

Ever since US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi traveled to Taiwan in August to show support for the island, US-China relations have deteriorated. Beijing conducted the first ever live-fire military drills around the island in response to its visit.

Biden said during his address to the United Nations on Wednesday that while the US seeks to "maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits, we will continue to oppose any unilateral change in the status quo."

In addition, the US has been supplying weapons to Ukraine, which Russia attacked in February.

In a comparison between NATO's eastward expansion and the US's Indo-Pacific strategy, Lavrov claimed that Washington is now treating the security of the two regions as "indivisible" and is developing a "closed format". So as to weaken what has already been established. ASEAN.

In its Indo-Pacific Strategy, which was released by the Biden administration in May, the administration urged "continuous and innovative collaboration with allies, partners and institutions within and outside the region."

India, one of these US allies, is a member of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, a grouping of four countries aimed at balancing China's growing regional influence.

However, New Delhi is also considered an ally of Moscow as it was removed in March in a UN resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. During this week's general assembly, Lavrov informed world leaders that Russia supports India's application for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

India's Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar spoke after Lavrov and praised India for being ready for "greater responsibility". Jaishankar said India supports the side which shows dialogue and diplomacy the only way with respect to Ukraine.

There are no formal diplomatic relations between Taiwan and India. However, its relations with China are still unstable due to the long-standing border dispute.
