UK: Defence ministers from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the Baltic states, and Nordic countries have called Russia's recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk as separate republics a "unjustified move.",  BBC reported.

The statement was released after a meeting in Leicestershire by defence ministers from ten countries who are part of the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force.

According to report, the UK's defence secretary, Ben Wallace, said at a press conference that the recognition of the two republics was not only against international law, but also effectively trashed the Minsk agreements. After the penalties imposed on Tuesday, Wallace said there were plenty more "in the tank," but he highlighted the need of applying sanctions in "lockstep" with partners.

In the following weeks, he said, the Joint Expeditionary Force will perform "freedom of movement exercises" in the Baltic Sea. Baltic defence ministers have urged for more Nato personnel to be deployed in their nations as well as increased military support.  "We're totally open to doing even more if required," Wallace said, adding that. "We need to make that clear signal to President (Vladimir) Putin."
