New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday (October 28) lashed out at Pakistan and China on the issue of terrorism. Jaishankar said that the main conspirators of the 26 November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks are still safe and have not been punished. He stressed that India understands the consequences of terrorism far better than others. At the same time, regarding China, he said that it has on many occasions obstructed the proposals brought in the UNSC to ban Pakistani terrorists.

Addressing an informal session of the UNSC's Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, the External Affairs Minister said the main perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks are still safe, while India has nabbed one of the 10 attackers. taken and convicted. Jaishankar further said that when the step was taken to ban some terrorists, in some cases the UNSC could not act due to political reasons.

He said that 'A terrorist (Ajmal Kasab) was caught alive, the Supreme Court of India prosecuted and sentenced him, while the main conspirators of the Mumbai terror attacks are still safe and have not been punished.' Jaishankar said that this attack was not only on Mumbai but on the international community. He said, 'Terrorism from across the border, which has been happening for decades, has neither weakened nor will our commitment to fight it (terrorism).' He said that we have to keep our political differences away to deal with this problem. The fight against terrorism has to be fought resolutely on all fronts, under all circumstances and in all places.
