Former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes passes away tragically, breaths his last in Mangalore hospital

New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader and former Union minister Oscar Fernandes (Oscar Fernandes) has passed away tragically. Oscar Fernandes breathed his last at a hospital in Mangaluru, Karnataka. This has been confirmed by the hospital. Oscar Fernandes, 80, had been ill for a long time and had been undergoing treatment at a Mangaluru hospital for the past few days. He also suffered injuries while doing yoga this year, after which his health worsened.

Tell us that Oscar Fernandes was counted among the close ones of Congress-working president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He was the road transport minister in the erstwhile UPA government. Oscar Fernandes was still a member of the Rajya Sabha. Oscar Fernandes, who served as a minister during both tenures of the UPA government, had been working with the Gandhi family for a long time. He has been parliamentary secretary to former PM Rajiv Gandhi.

Fernandes won the Lok Sabha election from Udappi Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka in 1980, followed by a series of victories from here till 1996. He had been a Member of Parliament as a Rajya Sabha MP since the Congress sent him to the Upper House in 1998.
