London: Following the disruption of the second England vs. Australia game at Lord's by 'Just Stop Oil' demonstrators, Yorkshire County Cricket Club said that security has been stepped up for this week's third Ashes test at Headingley.

A protester was taken off by England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow on the first morning of the Lord's match in London as orange powder was thrown on the outfield. Aggravated trespass charges were brought against three people.

Following the contentious removal of Bairstow on the last day, which prompted long and loud booing from the crowd, there is also worry regarding the behavior of fans against Australia players.

Australian players were also abused by some of the MCC members.

“Clearly, some incidents at Lord’s have heightened the interest and exposure of the third test,” the club said in a statement on Monday.

“The wellbeing of players, officials and spectators is paramount, and we are implementing appropriate measures to do everything within our control to keep everyone safe.

“We will continue to work closely with both ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board) and West Yorkshire Police to ensure our safety measures are proportionate for this fixture.”

According to a story, Yorkshire has recruited a group of "sprinter stewards" to stop protesters from breaking through the initial perimeter protection.

Yorkshire has been approached by Reuters for comment.

In the five-game series, Australia is in up 2-0.

Other athletic events in England this year, including as the Premiership Rugby final and the World Snooker Championship, have been impacted by 'Just Stop Oil' demonstrators.
