Bangalore: The case of Muslim girls wearing hijab coming to the government college located in Kopa, Karnataka is gaining momentum. These girl students were now opposed in a unique way by other students of the college itself. Here a group of students wearing saffron colored scarves reached the college in protest against the hijab. In view of this, the principal of the college has said that a meeting of SMC will be called on January 10, in which public representatives will also be present. Whatever decision will be taken in this meeting, everyone will have to follow it.

In fact, the Government Degree College in Balagadi had initially allowed students to wear saffron scarves to attend the class. The management had asked the girls to come without wearing hijabs. But now the college has allowed everyone to come wearing anything according to their wish till January 10. College principal Anantha Murthy said that the decision was taken in a similar meeting three years ago and till now everyone was following it. On Monday (January 3, 2022) some students came to the class wearing saffron scarves. He objected to the clothes of some girl students. B.Com student Vinay Koppa alleged that Muslim girls were coming to college wearing hijab. The student said that three years back also a similar dispute took place in the college. Then it was decided that no one would come to the college wearing hijab. But, since the last few days some girl students are coming to college wearing hijab, so they decided to come to college wearing saffron scarves as a protest.

The students said that on their request, the college administration had appealed to the Muslim girl students several times, saying that they should not come wearing the hijab, but they did not agree. He warned that if this issue is not resolved, then their protest will intensify in the coming days. It is noteworthy that earlier a similar case had come to light from Udupi district of Karnataka.
