Covid-19 infection in the country is increasing day by day. Due to this Covid-19, various industrial businesses of the country are getting badly affected. The effect of which has been shown on the sale of beer and liquor in Punjab. During the summer, beer sales in the state have decreased due to the epidemic. Liquor contractors picked up 60% less than their allotted quota at the time of 2 months, May and June, compared to the same period last year. Officials said that the quota raised by the contractors changes to a large extent in sales. While the pace of purchase was seen in June, but with the figures for May 2020, two months have been bad for beer sales.

Sales of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) have also been affected due to Corona. Liquor contractors have raised 31% lower quota of IMFL in May and June this year as compared to May and June last year. Sales of Punjab Made Liquor (PML) have registered an increase of about 20% in the same period.

According to the media report, a government official said, "The drop in IMFL sales is the reason for the huge decline in the work of marriage in view of Corona." During this time, IMFL sales were largely based on wedding ceremonies. But, an employee employed in a senior position in the liquor sales business reported that low sales of beer led to the closure of colleges and educational institutions during the epidemic. During college, the main consumers of beer are students.
